Hand-Knotted Area Rugs
The individual artistry of a hand-knotted area rug is undeniably beautiful. The many hours of hard work taken to create a large hand knotted rug results in a unique work of art that cannot be duplicated. This is one of the many reasons that hand knotted rugs are so sought after.
Traditional hand-knotted area rugs from India are sometimes referred to as hand-knotted oriental rugs, while rugs made in Iran are commonly called Persian rugs. The largest determining factor in the price of hand-knotted rugs is the knot count per square inch. The more knots, the longer it takes to create a rug, therefore the more expensive it will be. The fibres used also influence the price – hand-knotted silk area rugs are by far the most expensive as the thin fibres of silk require far more knots to make up a floor rug than materials such as wool or cotton.
Hand-knotted area rugs include large braided rugs for outdoor like hand knotted jute rugs and large hand knotted round rugs made from cotton or sisal fibres. Hand-knotted rugs are unique works of art that add style and comfort to homes.
